Techniques & Equipment

Spirit activity can, and does manifest itself in many different ways. This is why the team and our guests are issued with a whole range of detection equipment.  But, as we tell our guests at the start of every investigation "your own body is the best spirit detector there is so be open to sensations." 



 It takes a lot of energy for a spirit to communicate with us and so a range of gadgets is available that can amplify or detect such  activity - however weak it may be. The detection equipment we regularly use includes:-

EMF (electro-magnetic force meter) 

Often referred to as a K2 meter.  This detects nearby levels and fluctuations  - often accompanying spirit activity.

Night-vision goggles

These, as you might expect, greatly enhance the wearer's vision in low light and often alert the user to shadowy figures or part manifestations that are not readily visible to the naked eye.

Electronic temperature sensor

This sensitive instrument instantly registers tell-tale cold or hot spot differences in ambient temperature; often a reliable indicator of spirit presence.

Hearing enhancer

Spirits often communicate audibly and this gadget amplifies weak sounds. (don't wear one of these if accompanied by someone who screams a lot!)

Movement detector

A pair of these gadgets are placed facing each other in areas where visible spirit activity may be expected - typically in doorways or passages.  When the detector beam is broken, an alarm sounds.

Planchette

This is basically a device comprising a flat plate, usually of wood, in which is mounted a pen or pencil.  When placed on a piece of paper, a spirit can move the device thereby producing writing or sketches.

Scanning radio

This is essentially an ordinary wireless set with its tuner fixed between stations.  When set in scan mode, it presents a channel that spirits can use to communicate by voice.

Tibetan singing bowl

When the rim is stroked with a hard instrument, this brass bowl vibrates with a high pitched resonating frequency that can attract spiritual activity.
